DATE OF UPLOAD 07 Jan 2022
Lighting is the key to effective selling.

Correctly designed lighting accelerates customer interaction by contributing to the aesthetic quality and perception of the store. A well thought out lighting design contributes directly to sustainable customer satisfaction as well as pleasant shopping.

Things to know about Lighting Design in Your Stores,

Accent Lights

You should use accent lighting for any product or object you want to highlight. The light intensity should be higher than the ambient lighting. The color rendering index (CRI) should be chosen above 90 in order to provide the product with the closest look to reality.

For accent lighting,  shelf lighting and high-efficiency spot lighting should be used.

Ambient Light

General lighting should be in a design that will not get in the way of the focus lights designed for the products in your store. Otherwise, it will not be possible to get the willed effect from the focus lights.

Provide uninterrupted, aesthetic and soft light lines by using linear designs that are trending recently in ambient lighting.

It is important that the light flow in the store is continuous and with the same stability. Otherwise, pleasant shopping becomes impossible, as perception and vision problems may occur when passing through light and dark areas.

Hidden Light

Hidden Light, with its decorative purpose structure, has become very common in stores as well as in residences in recent years. In order to make your customers feel the peaceful atmosphere that is pleasing to the eye, it would be appropriate to use a light design in the background of products such as showcases and wall display stands. In the system, which has become an indispensable part of shelf and architectural designs, warm tones should be chosen in accordance with the color preference design.
The lighting color (Kelvin) and the color temperature used in lighting should be a part of the design. It is necessary to choose according to the surface materials in the space and the products to be exhibited. Color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K), the lowest commonly used number (2700K) indicates the warmest colors and the highest number (6500K) indicates cool white.

Warm light colors have a relaxing atmosphere, while cold lights have a dynamic effect.

Color Rendering Index

CRI (Color Rendering Index)

Color rendering can be described as the closest state of light to daylight.

CRI value of sunlight max. 100 is accepted. The unit of measurement for the color rendering index is Ra, and for daylight this value is 100. No artificial light can operate at daylight efficiency. The most current value is 95%.

For example, a low CRI value in a clothing store causes the purchased product to appear in a different color tone in daylight. This also means an increase in the number of returns and exchanges. It would be right to choose the lighting as a result of the color and texture analysis of the product sold in the store.

Refrigerator

Considering its low temperature characteristics and maintenance-free long working hours, the preference should be shelf led lighting. It can work for many years without affecting the cabinet cooling performance. As the number of products that need to be frozen and stored in a cold environment in supermarkets increases, the need for lighting increases with the refrigerator cabinets.
